During pregnancy especially in first trimester, there is rise in various hormones in the body. One of them is hCG and is related to nausea and vomiting seen in pregnancy.

Symptoms of nausea and vomiting starts at the beginning or mid of 2nd month of pregnancy and can last up to 4th month of pregnancy.

MANAGEMENT OF VOMITING IN PREGNANCY

  • Modification of diet is required
  • Along with increasing calories, taking a balanced diet full of carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals and dietary fibres; you also need to adjust the quantity and way of eating.
  • Try not to do over-eating.

Small meals at frequent intervals are advised (every 2 hours).

  • Don’t take too much spicy, oily and fatty foods.
  • It’s a common habit to drink water after eating a meal.

You should try to avoid liquid both 30 min before and after meal.

  • Don’t lie down to rest or sleep, just after eating food.
  • In the morning when you wake up, take some light snacks before rising from bed.

In this way you can manage nausea and vomiting.

Always keep in mind that it is a natural phenomenon. You don’t need to worry about it. But in case vomiting is more than usual, you should contact your doctor. They will give you the required medications or conduct tests as required.
