What a fantastic race weekend it was at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix! Drama, strategy, overtakes, and a bit of luck—we had it all.

Here’s your lap-by-lap breakdown with all the spicy moments.

Turn 1: A Missed Opportunity?

Max Verstappen made an early move at Turn 1, overtaking Oscar Piastri, who lost his pole advantage while defending from George Russell.

In giving too much space, he left the door wide open for Max. A rare mistake from Oscar?

Perhaps.

Not that George Russell took it lightly—he wasn’t too happy on the radio:

“What the hell is Oscar doing?” he exclaimed.

Leclerc on the Climb, Russell on the Edge

Starting from P11, Charles Leclerc was already P9 by Lap 6, finding confidence in his tyres.

By Lap 9, Lando Norris had entered Russell’s DRS zone. But overtaking George isn’t a Sunday drive—he defended hard on those worn medium tyres.

Russell radioed:

“I don’t know if I can reach target lap pushing like this.”

But he had already created a 7-second gap behind him to Oscar Piastri—classic George: defend hard, but rarely chase.

Lando Breaks Through – Oscar Fights Back

By Lap 11, Norris finally passed Russell, only to find a 7-second gap to his teammate, Oscar.

George and Sainz pitted soon after—but both came out in traffic, sitting at P16 and P17 on hard tyres. A costly miscalculation.

On Lap 13, Oscar radioed:

“Plan A looks ambitious.”

Soon after, he boxed and rejoined at P12, going for the undercut.

Team Games Begin

Lap 18: Oscar aimed to overtake Yuki Tsunoda for P10. Red Bull radioed Yuki to hold him off and give Max some breathing space before his pit.

But Oscar breezed past him. Another reminder— not any no. 2 car can hold off opponent of no. 1 car (Max).

By Lap 25, Isack Hadjar sat 28 seconds behind Max at P4—perfect for Max to pit safely.

Oscar on a Roll, Then a Twist

Lap 26: Oscar overtook Lewis Hamilton cleanly for P6.

Lap 29: Lando pitted.

But then, the race flipped—a safety car was triggered right after Lando’s stop due to Ocon’s power issue.

Max, who hadn’t pitted yet, got a free stop.

Lucky?

Always.

Beneficiaries: Max, Albon (P4), and Hadjar (P5) and many more.

Losers: Piastri, who had already pitted earlier and lost the undercut advantage. Went to pit again on Lap 31 as his tyres were already old.

Mid-Race Chaos Settles In

By Lap 33, Norris was 19 seconds behind Verstappen. He had two choices: preserve tyres or push. With 30+ laps to go, he chose the chase.

Lap 37: Lewis Hamilton, helped by the virtual safety car, emerged on mediums and was up to P5.

Laps 37–45 gave fans a breather. Water breaks were approved.

Late Drama – Norris vs Piastri

Lap 46: Kimi Antonelli’s engine failed—another safety car. Verstappen pitted again.

Norris followed.

Oscar didn’t—he had no new tyres left.

Piastri moved to P2, Norris to P3 .

When the race restarts as the safety car go, Lando Norris will have higher chance of overtaking Max Verstappen if they switch just after restart, because of new set of tyres.

And the situation was kind of same in Japanese Grand Prix where Oscar Piastri was urging Team to swap positions by saying that he had higher pace.

Team did the same this time, no swap just race each other.

 Perfect!

Lap 54: Race restarted.

Lap 59: Norris overtook Piastri in a clean, wheel-to-wheel battle.

Last-Lap Drama – Leclerc & Albon

On the final lap, Leclerc returned a position to Albon after driving him off earlier. Ferrari’s team orders made Charles furious. Albon, trying to overtake, thought he had outpaced Ferrari—turns out, it was just good sportsmanship or the FIA rules.

Ha… Ha… Ha

Still, great drive from Williams!

Final Results:

  • P1 – Max Verstappen – first to reach the checkered flag and won the Grand Prix!
  • P2 – Lando Norris – finally building some points ahead of Oscar Piastri in championship. Great race by the guy after a bad quali.
  • P3 – Oscar Piastri – not his day totally.
  • P4 – Lewis Hamilton – building more confidence after he unfollowed the whole Ferrari team on Insta.
  • P5 – Alex Albon – great drive.
  • P6 – Charles Leclerc
  • P7 – George Russell – not at all a good race for Mercedes with one car DNF and the other so down. Toto Wolff’s absence clearly felt.
  • P8 – Carlos Sainz – clearly had higher pace, but undercut didn’t work.
  • P9 – Isack Hadjar – this guy is continuously scoring points for RB.
  • P10 – Yuki Tsunoda – great drive after a scary crash one day before in qualifying! Nothing can break his confidence.

This Grand Prix had everything—speed, strategy, emotion, and close battles. A race that kept us all on edge till the final lap!
