Hello, Halleys Clinic family! How are you guys doing? We’re inching closer to the start of the 2025 F1 season, and while that should be exciting, I can’t help but feel uneasy about a certain rumoured regulation. Are you worried too?

There’s a buzz going around that F1 is considering removing team radio broadcasts from 2025. Yes, you read that right—no more iconic “Leave me alone, I know what I’m doing” or Ferrari’s brilliant strategic decisions being exposed live.

But why?

FIA’s Justification: No More Swearing, or Else!

The speculation ties back to a familiar debate—drivers swearing on live TV. Since F1 is watched also by kids, the governing body wants to ensure a cleaner broadcast. But let’s be real here:

A driver hurtling at 300 km/h, making split-second decisions that could win or lose a race, is expected to remain polite and censor himself in the heat of battle?

That’s not all. New FIA guidelines (which are officially confirmed) state that any inappropriate language during races or interviews could lead to suspensions and even championship point deductions! So, essentially, one well-placed F-bomb could cost a driver the title.

Talk about priorities, right?

Now, let’s address the elephant in the paddock. Some journalists believe this move is directed at Max Verstappen—an attempt to discipline him and, conveniently, prevent him from dominating the championship yet again.

Why only him? Well, if you’re new to F1, you might be wondering that. But if you’ve followed the sport long enough, you know exactly why these speculations exist.

Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri might just become the ultimate winner of this rule. Why? Well, the Aussie is known for his dark humor as a substitute for swearing. While others rack up penalties, he could climb the leaderboard unscathed! (HA… HA…!)

The Real Problem: No Team Radios?

While the swearing ban is already controversial, the bigger issue is the rumored removal of team radio broadcasts. And that, my friends, is where things get serious.

F1 team radios aren’t just entertainment—they are essential to the sport.

Ferrari’s legendary strategic blunders? Gone.

McLaren’s hilarious mid-race breakfast discussions? Vanished.

Max Verstappen explaining why his crash wasn’t his fault? Silenced.

Lewis Hamilton complaining about his ultra-slow and bumpy car? Muted.

Sure, all of this provides extra drama, but team radio also plays a crucial role in strategy. Every team listens to their rivals, adjusting their race plan based on what they hear.

Think about it: how would Lando Norris have asked his team to copy Lewis Hamilton’s strategy, assuming the seven-time champion knew better? How would teams adapt on the fly if they couldn’t gather any hints from competitors?

F1 is a high-speed chess game, and removing team radio takes away a key piece of that strategy.

Can FIA Really Enforce This? – F1 2025

Honestly? Probably not.

You can’t just erase a fundamental part of a sport that’s been around for decades. Formula 1 thrives on strategy, mind games, and driver emotions. Taking away team radios will only make the sport feel sterile and scripted.

Different people have different opinions, but this move just doesn’t seem practical. For now, all we can do is wait, watch, and cross our fingers that common sense prevails.

What Do You Think?

Will FIA really enforce this? Is this rule change good or bad for the sport? Drop your thoughts in the comments!

See you all soon! Have a great day!
