Williams and Carlos Sainz Deliver a Podium Shock in 2025

Williams, under the leadership of James Vowles as Team Principal and with the signing of Carlos Sainz, has been soaring higher than anyone imagined this year.

The team has consistently been in the points and has repeatedly impressed the Formula 1 world throughout 2025.

But while fans hoped, very few truly believed they’d see a Williams car back on the podium. That dream became reality in Azerbaijan — and fittingly, it was Carlos Sainz who made it happen.

For Sainz, this podium carries extra weight.

Replaced at Ferrari by Lewis Hamilton, his move to Williams was seen as a step backward.

Even Sainz himself admitted at the end of last season that his final podium with Ferrari might be the last of his career, with no telling how long it would take to stand there again.

Yet here he is in 2025, proving the doubters wrong and securing a podium in a Williams.

Critics have already highlighted the spicy twist: before Hamilton could score a podium with Ferrari, Sainz managed it with Williams.
Motorsport, after all, writes its own scripts.

The Spaniard’s season so far has been marred by mishaps and interruptions, but this result marks a much-needed comeback and could set the tone for the rest of his campaign.

More importantly, the bigger question looms: is Williams truly on the road to revival?

Once the sport’s most dominant team, Williams has been fighting for years to rediscover its old glory.

This podium hints that the dream may no longer be impossible and the F1 world is watching with curious, eager eyes.
