Do you still think Max Verstappen is staying at Red Bull?

Let’s be honest—there’s no need to “rethink” anything anymore.

The switch is happening.

The announcement?

That’s just PR strategy now. Whether they drop the bomb during the summer break or tease it until Abu Dhabi, one thing is certain—it won’t stay a secret much longer.

Now, some say Red Bull removed Christian Horner just to keep Max.

But:

1. Did Max Verstappen ever actually dislike Christian Horner?

2. Or was Horner’s removal because Max was already slipping away?

The “he loves Red Bull” argument?

Of course, he does.

It’s his racing cradle.

But love doesn’t win you championships, if the team stops delivering.

Everyone he won titles with, are slowly walking out the door—not just the visible names, but many behind-the-scenes factory engineers too.

Red Bull is no longer that Red Bull.

Even Max has voiced his frustrations this season:

“I had no pace.”

He’s struggling.

He knows it.

And you can see it.

The form has dropped.

For Max, this year already feels too long—and it’s only halfway through.

Can he afford another?

Now picture this: Mercedes, with Toto Wolff building his next dynasty around Kimi Antonelli.

But while the young blood brews, he needs a proven winner.

A 4-time world champion who knows how to finish the job.

Toto wants Max.

Of course, it isn’t an easy “yes” for Verstappen.

Let’s not ignore the flip side:

A whole new car philosophy after 10 years in the RB setup.

Leaving the team where everything revolved around him.

Joining a rival camp, one he’s battled hard against for years.

But when Max sees Red Bull slipping down the Constructors’ standings… and when the magic fades with the exit of his trusted personnel… he will make the good choice.

Not the perfect one—because there’s no such thing.

But the one that balances ambition and realism.

So yes, Max Verstappen is going to Mercedes.

And when Formula 1 posts about it,

the top comment will be:

“Wow! I’m surprised…”

“As if we didn’t see that coming!”
