Is Sergio Pérez Really Joining Cadillac in Formula 1?
  • By Dr. AK Rana

Sergio Pérez is reportedly set to return to Formula 1 with Cadillac- Rumors are heating up.

And honestly, this is the comeback fans have been craving. His earlier departure didn’t sit right—whether it was the sudden way things ended, the broken contract, or the complete lack of a proper send-off. No announcements, no farewell, just an abrupt exit after the season wrapped up.

That’s not how a driver of his caliber should have bowed out.

But as the dust settled, it became clear that Red Bull’s struggles weren’t down to Pérez.

The spotlight turned to the car itself.

Ever since Adrian Newey’s departure, cracks have started to appear in Red Bull’s armor.

And true to form, they shuffled their driver lineup again. Liam Lawson got promoted to Red Bull, leaving Yuki Tsunoda questioning his own standing.

Then, after just two races—on tracks Lawson had never even raced before—he was quietly dropped. Tsunoda was suddenly back in favor. Lawson’s feelings? Completely brushed aside.

Thankfully, Tsunoda is performing well now, and let’s hope Red Bull doesn’t deal any more chaotic cards this season.

But back to Pérez—if he really is heading to Cadillac, that means we’ll see him back in the paddock soon. And that would be a smart move by the American outfit.

As a new team entering F1, Cadillac would want an experienced driver—not just someone who’s fast, but someone who’s won races, worked across multiple teams, and knows how to make a car faster and more competitive.

Pérez’s deep well of experience and technical feedback could be exactly what Cadillac needs to build a solid foundation.

That’s also why new teams often Favor seasoned drivers over rookies. It’s not just about raw speed—it’s about helping engineers fine-tune every nut and bolt.

As I’ve explained in past articles here on halleysclinic.com, an F1 car’s performance isn’t just built by brilliant engineers alone; drivers play a vital role too. Their precise input on handling, balance, and performance helps shape the machine into a true contender.

Looking ahead to 2026, the stakes are sky-high. New teams, fresh regulations, and shifting alliances promise to make it one of the most exciting seasons yet.

Kick Sauber will transform into Audi, Cadillac looks set to join the grid, and with two more cars and drivers, the adrenaline will only intensify.

With regulation changes looming, suspense is in the air—and it’s only building from here.
