Ferrari’s P7 & P8 at Australian GP 2025—What Happened?

Ferrari is definitely not happy with its qualifying results, as Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton finished P7 and P8, respectively in Australian GP.

Not the start Ferrari was hoping for, you must say.

For Hamilton, this isn’t ideal. As he chases his elusive eighth title, starting from eighth on the grid is far from what he needs. Speaking about his adjustment to Ferrari,

he admitted:

“Driving this car is quite different from Mercedes. The steering wheel, the way it functions—everything takes time to master.”

That’s Lewis. But what about Leclerc? Why is he stuck in P7?

A Tight Grid – Every Millisecond Counts!

This season is ridiculously close! And that’s exactly what happens in the year before a major regulation change—teams push their current cars to the limit.

 Just look at the leaderboard:

The entire top 10 in Q3 were separated by just half a second.

That means every millisecond matters.

And let’s talk about the surprises—who would have thought that Red Bull’s sister team and Williams would be this fast?

They stole P5 and P6 from Ferrari in qualifying of Australian GP,

and Leclerc saw it coming.

“I know there are a few teams not showing their true potential—they’re hiding it.”

Well, Charles—you were absolutely right!

But here’s the wild card: Rain!

The forecast predicts rain in Melbourne during the race. And when that happens? Grid positions become almost meaningless.
