Bond of life chapter -3
- By Halleys story
Bond of life – Three days went by and his eyes kept looking at the entrance, but nobody came by. Other than waiting one more thing was making him furious, it was to close that gasping mouth of his doctor in-charge. For this he had to act to be in pain once in a while and to take the medicines that were of no use for him, other than being extremely bitter.
At the end, he left to look for her himself. Getting a hat and a large umbrella was not much big deal for that guy acting sick and lonely in front of that poor doctor in-charge. If he pleaded more, he might have offered him his car also.
He knew address of her house, and went straight to that place. It was a big mansion surrounded by guards, even the birds had to take permission before entering the sky over it.
Of course, no human could enter it by any means other than reporting their reason of visit. But we are talking about Mr. Hooda here, that being said, there was no human who could match his speed. He would pass through them, just like a draught without them even noticing it.
He was furious that she didn’t come to see him again. Even though she didn’t know about him, there was no way he could have forgotten him there in present. If not much, at least he was no stranger; he went debating himself over his action of sneaking through someone’s house looking for her.
He sneaked through the open window and jumped on the table beside the gate. Stomped!
She got shocked and fell down her bed, with her book that she was reading, flying across the room to land on his head.
“Hello!” he smirked.
“How? How are you here?” she crawled back.
“I came through the door.”
“They let you in.”
“ya! kind of.”
“Then why did you come by window?”
“I couldn’t find your room. So, I jumped to terrace, and swiftly checked all the rooms.”
“You will be in trouble if someone found you here.”
“You don’t look amazed at all. So, you do know, who I am.” He raised his eyebrows, looking at her with sharp blue eyes. His brown hairs waved across his face as all the windows got opened after his crash landing. “Hmm?” He was standing beside her in less than a second.
“I know.” She murmured, “then why are you roaming around in daylight, you night creature.”
“It’s not sunny today. Besides why were you acting like you don’t know me.” He spoke walking across the table.
“Did I? I don’t remember.”
“You even asked my name.”
“Was checking whether you remembered that or even forgot that also?”
“Anyway, why didn’t you come to see me, you said you will.”
“Why will I? that was just a sentence of good will; besides no one believes them.”
“I do, I even waited for you to return. Do you know how much hard it is to wait for someone.”
“Why will you wait for me? Have you totally forgotten what you did to me?”
“What?” he asked with an anxious face.
He was confused as his memories were all messed up due to time travel. “I don’t remember, you need to tell me.”
“Never mind. Just go, because if you don’t, I will call them.”
“Do whatever, I am not leaving until you give me answer.” Saying that, he took out knife and started peeling apple kept on the table.
“Do you think these can end your appetite.”
“You are so concerned about my appetite, want to help.” He smirked.
“No, thanks. “She climbed up the bed and clenched her book.
He was having fun teasing her.
Rishi met Shayra for the first time, in the grand celebration of her brother, Kartik joining the Taskforce. They were not only colleagues but soon became good friends. Every afternoon, they used to come home, and Shayra used to make tea for them; that used to be the best time of day for him. Days went by, and soon she also joined the force after graduating from the college.
Working day in and out for the safety of people of town was tiring, but spending each day together felt like a fleeting dream.
When did they became so distant that even asking for tea became a formal speech, that needed to be decided with much thinking on. Was it when their town was attacked? was it when Rishi became general but Kartik didn’t? or was it on the night when Rishi was attacked by those who came at night and were more dead than alive. He was taking his last breath when Kartik and Shayra came to his rescue. “He won’t be able to survive the night” was the statement of doctor. It was a miracle that he survived; but only those two knew that he was no more a human.
Kartik didn’t want Rishi to continue his post as there was no difference between him and their enemies, from whom they were protecting their town.
It wasn’t a single reason. There is never a single reason that drive people away from each other, but a build-up of many reasons and the one excuse to take them all out.
He was sitting there, smiling, slicing and eating apple. She refused to eat, when he offered her, the plate decorated with fruit salad in fancy style.
“It’s going to be night soon. Are you going to stay?” She spoke, fiddling pages of book nervously.
They glanced at each other for a while. There were thousands of questions in their mind and another thousands of answers, but no words to bring them out.
“I will leave, if you tell me the answer.”
“You…” her talk was cut short by the gun shot heard close to the window. Soon followed by continuous gun firing.
He swamps near her and rolled on the ground behind the bed.
“Where are your army of guards?”
“Don’t know.”
Rishi walked towards the window, there was an unsettling feeling that something was not right. He looked down only to find a squad of more than 50 people climbing up the stairs.
Shayra hovered behind him, noiselessly, nevertheless he could feel her presence. Clenching his jacket tightly, she asked softly, “Who?”
He didn’t remember anytime where he shielded her, where he could stand for her, where she could lean on him. It was just him and his one-sided unrequited feelings that hovered for years but never came out. There were so many things that he regretted but she was at the top of list.
Gun shot continued. “They are many. Not sure about their intention but it doesn’t look good. We have to get out from here, Shayra!”
