Accumulate 12 penalty points within 12 months, and you&#8217;re out for one race.Max Verstappen stands right there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the FIA\u2019s hard stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And as it stands,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Max Verstappen is right on the edge\u2014after receiving a 10-second penalty in the chaotic Spanish Grand Prix for a collision with George Russell.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>We predicted it last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If anyone was going to flirt with that limit, it would be Max.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But this time\u2026 was he really to blame?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<strong>The Chaos Begins: Kimi Antonelli\u2019s Mysterious Power Failure<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The drama started when Kimi Antonelli\u2019s Mercedes suffered yet another power failure, triggering a late safety car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>At this point, it&#8217;s becoming a mystery how a team like Mercedes can\u2019t figure out what&#8217;s shorting Antonelli\u2019s car almost every other race.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu with wires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That safety car completely changed the race complexion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until then, Red Bull\u2019s three-stop strategy was working like clockwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They had a rhythm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They had the pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then came the safety car\u2026 and the tyre crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>&nbsp;Tyre Troubles: No Softs Left for Max<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most teams pitted for soft tyres during the safety car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Red Bull?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of luck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>They had no new softs left and were forced to put Max Verstappen on brand-new hard tyres\u2014a compound no one else dared touch, and for good reason.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New doesn\u2019t mean good, especially not when grip is the name of the game.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The result?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verstappen\u2019s car was sliding all over the place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Restart Mayhem: Gripless and Vulnerable<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As the race restarted, Charles Leclerc made a clean move on Max, thanks to soft ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Max Verstappen went slightly wide, barely holding on\u2014and that small wobble led to a bit of contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the real chaos came from behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George Russell, on softs and smelling opportunity, lunged forward. The two cars touched again\u2014this time Max was forced off track. Then came the controversial moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verstappen\u2019s engineer GP quickly told Max to consider giving the position back to avoid a penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Max hesitated, debated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before anything could happen, Russell came back for more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This time, Max defended aggressively, and they collided again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stewards blamed Max, slapped him with a 10-second penalty, and moved on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George Russell?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not even a warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russell walked away happy\u2014no podium, no win, but grinning ear-to-ear at Max\u2019s penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He even dropped a jab:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201cI don\u2019t know why he does so. He cost so much points to the team.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Strong words from someone who hasn\u2019t seen the top step\u2014in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>&nbsp;Strategy Shattered, Championship Hopes Slipping<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Max admitted post-race:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201cNot every safety car means you need to pit.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>He referenced Monaco, where Red Bull waited endlessly for a red flag that never came.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Spain, they went all in\u2014and the gamble backfired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Had both McLarens pitted while Max stayed out, maybe\u2014just maybe\u2014he could\u2019ve won the race.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>But F1 isn\u2019t built on maybes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>More than anything, this hurt his title fight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before Spain, Max was just 20 points off the lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That gap has widened\u2014and a one-race ban would all but bury his championship chances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Ban on the Horizon?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One more penalty, and Max is out for a race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Would that hurt Red Bull?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Absolutely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here\u2019s the wild part\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Max might not mind missing one weekend, especially if it lines up with a round in his favourite racing series as Franz Herman.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>&nbsp;Hulkenberg Shines in P5<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Amid the chaos, there was one feel-good story: Nico H\u00fclkenberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He dragged that Kick Sauber to an incredible P5 finish, proving once again why fans have long believed in his talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s never had a truly competitive car, but days like this show he deserves praise\u2014and maybe even a proper shot at a podium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We live in hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next Stop: Canada<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Will Max keep it clean? Will Red Bull recover?
