{"id":928,"date":"2025-05-25T18:29:31","date_gmt":"2025-05-25T17:29:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/?p=928"},"modified":"2025-05-25T18:29:31","modified_gmt":"2025-05-25T17:29:31","slug":"how-vcarb-and-williams-turned-blue-flags-into-big-points","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/25\/how-vcarb-and-williams-turned-blue-flags-into-big-points\/","title":{"rendered":"How VCARB and Williams turned Blue Flags into Big points?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>By Dr. AK Rana<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Blue flags had the best sales in Monaco this year\u2014and those who watched the race know exactly what I mean.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ha\u2026 Ha\u2026 Ha\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of 20 cars, 15 were practically running a different race, one or two laps behind the top 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was hilarious\u2026 and a little tragic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But before you laugh too hard, remember: even this mess was the result of sheer strategy, teamwork, and some top-tier pit lane wizardry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Let\u2019s begin with a big shoutout to Lando Norris for winning the Monaco Grand Prix!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And hats off to Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri for making it to the podium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Piastri, this triple-header has been rough\u2014kind of like the opposite of the one before, matching Lando&#8217;s luck in the previous one. As Oscar himself admitted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;m making mistakes I&#8217;ve never made in my career.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Even so, he still managed a podium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s no small feat. (We\u2019ll unpack the whole McLaren situation in the next blog\u2014trust me, it needs its own article.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Today, let\u2019s talk about the chaos of blue flags.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After Pierre Gasly crashed early (and made himself comfy in the garage,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>probably laughing at the absurdity unfolding outside),<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>14 other cars ended up one or two laps behind the top 5.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s where blue flags come in\u2014to signal backmarkers to move aside and let faster cars through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, usually, only 1 or 2 cars need to be lapped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Monaco\u2019s narrow streets, 14 cars had to make way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s like navigating a bus through Mumbai traffic with no horn\u2014and expecting everyone to move!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>So how did we end up with 14 cars going backward in a forward race?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The answer: strategy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pit strategy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In Monaco, 2 pit stops are mandatory\u2014or it\u2019s penalty time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here\u2019s the twist: since overtaking is near impossible, teams stopped racing and started planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Enter Williams and VCARB with a championship-worthy slow dance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Liam Lawson slowed the pack behind him just enough to build a sweet gap for Isack Hadjar to complete both pit stops without losing position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, Carlos Sainz pulled the same trick for Alex Albon, eventually switching places so Carlos could get his pit stops done too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And voil\u00e0\u2014both Williams drivers finished in the points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>3\/4th of the grid was crawling around, literally forming a traffic jam.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Even Gabriel Bortoleto, buried at the bottom, thought: \u201cWhy not try every tyre in the garage?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, three pit stops\u2014just for kicks!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>George Russell, stuck behind Albon, had had enough.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>He tried cutting a corner, seemingly ready to eat a penalty rather than lose his sanity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>That\u2019s how intense it was.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This Monaco race turned from a competition to a chess match on wheels\u2014with pit strategy dominating over actual racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bit chaotic, a bit sleepy at times, but also oddly thrilling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Max Verstappen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He waited&#8230;
