By grabbing pole position in Miami Sprint Qualifying, the young Mercedes driver became the youngest pole-sitter in Formula 1 history.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A massive congratulations to Kimi \u2014 the whole Mercedes camp celebrated, with team boss Toto Wolff proudly declaring, \u201cI knew from the beginning this kid is extremely talented.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, Toto, point taken. The kid is brilliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But as F1 often reminds us, breaking records is one thing \u2014 winning races is another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting from pole, Kimi was eyeing a dream sprint win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But he learned a harsh reality today:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>In Formula 1, the real war starts at Turn 1. And for that, you need experience and a whole different set of racing instincts.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Oscar Piastri muscled past him (or at least, Kimi Antonelli felt he was pushed off), while Lando Norris and Max Verstappen also slipped through. Just like that, Kimi lost three positions at Turn 1 \u2014 a rough start for the rookie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not ideal, but hey \u2014 it\u2019s just the beginning. Lessons like these are what shape future champions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And knowing Kimi Antonelli, he won\u2019t make the same mistake twice. Expect him to strike back harder next time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, not everything was smooth sailing for Mercedes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George Russell, starting P5 in the sprint, quietly endured a race that he surely won\u2019t be thrilled about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As much as the spotlight shone on Kimi&#8217;s historic pole, no F1 driver enjoys getting outpaced by an 18-year-old rookie who\u2019s only five races into his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>In Formula 1, your biggest rival is always across the garage \u2014 and now, the pressure is mounting for George Russell.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>As if the on-track drama wasn\u2019t enough, controversy is bubbling off-track too. Williams\u2019 Alex Albon raised eyebrows during qualifying, commenting over the radio as he followed Kimi\u2019s car,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201cIs it even legal?\u201d \u2014 noting how low the Mercedes was running.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Sparks flew, literally, and George Russell had also complained about excessive sparking in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though he went silent on the matter later (told to keep mum, perhaps? Ha\u2026ha\u2026ha\u2026), the FIA has surely noted these murmurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fans will hope Mercedes avoids the kind of double disqualification disaster Ferrari suffered in China \u2014 especially with Kimi Antonelli eyeing his first big breakthrough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stepping back, you have to wonder \u2014 have we underestimated Mercedes this season?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>All attention has been on McLaren, Red Bull, and Ferrari, while Mercedes has been steadily stacking points with P3-P5 finishes. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Russell has even bagged three podiums already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that killer instinct, that title-fighting aggression, seemed absent.
