Rajat Patidar has been appointed as the new captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for IPL 2025. And why is it shocking? Because everyone\u2014RCB fans, cricket enthusiasts, and even rivals\u2014expected one man to take charge again: Virat Kohli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet, here we are. The RCB selectors had the audacity to consider both Kohli and Patidar for the role\u2014and then chose Patidar?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;A Young Captain for the Future&#8221; \u2013 Really?<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Some will argue that this is a long-term vision, just like Mumbai Indians picking Hardik Pandya. But what \u201cfuture\u201d are we talking about here? This is the IPL, not a national team grooming a captain for a decade. Both Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play for at least five more years\u2014so why think beyond that now? Will changing captains magically help RCB win? Absolutely not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/109222120-1.jpg\" alt=\"Virat Kohli\" class=\"wp-image-569\" style=\"width:352px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/109222120-1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/109222120-1-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Removal of Virat Kohli\u2014The First Wrong Move<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s rewind a bit. Virat Kohli stepping down from India\u2019s captaincy was his choice (not his choice?), but RCB taking away his leadership? That\u2019s an entirely different issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a team loses, is it always the captain\u2019s fault? And if they win, it\u2019s because the squad was great? That\u2019s not how cricket works! Anyone who has watched Kohli on the field knows how aggressive, passionate, and electrifying he is. He\u2019s the power source of RCB. Yet, the management blamed him while assembling chaotic squads in the auctions?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And who decided Kohli can never captain RCB again? Where is that rule written?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You brought in Faf du Plessis, made him captain, and we all saw that every decision was made in consultation with Kohli. So why not just give Kohli the leadership? The hypocrisy is unreal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">RCB: A Team with A Fanbase Larger Than Their Trophy Cabinet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every IPL season, teams like CSK, MI, and KKR lift the trophy\u2014some multiple times. RCB? Zero trophies. And yet, they have one of the strongest fanbases in cricket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Virat Kohli has given everything to RCB. From the Chris Gayle era to the ABD days to now with Faf, he has carried this franchise. And despite coming close several times, the trophy has always slipped away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Was it just bad luck in the past? Maybe. But in the last 3-4 years, it\u2019s been bad decision-making.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>RCB chokes at auctions. Do they even have a strategy? They let go of players, try new combinations every year, and then expect miracles. You need a good car to win in Formula 1, and you need a well-balanced squad to win in the IPL. But RCB? They rely on one man\u2014Kohli\u2014and then blame him when things go wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Would Virat Kohli Even Want This Captaincy?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s be real. With this kind of management and squad-building, even Kohli might not want to be captain anymore. Why take the blame for a team that lacks depth?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And yet, despite all this, Kohli remains loyal. RCB is his home. He will give his heart and soul in every match, play every ball with passion, and probably end the season in heartbreak\u2014again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Would Virat Kohli want to captain RCB? Yes. But is it his decision? No.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Will he hold grudges? No. He will respect and support Patidar like the leader he is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>RCB Needs a Team, not a New Captain<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of constantly changing captains, RCB should focus on building a winning squad like other teams.
