AK RANA<strong><u><\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Dengue is caused by virus called DENV (dengue virus). It is not caused by mosquito but actually transmitted from one person to another by the bite of mosquito.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color has-background\">According to WHO, 100-400 million infections of dengue occur every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dengue is usually mild and asymptomatic but it can also become severe, which can become fatal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no exact treatment for it. It\u2019s a viral disease. It\u2019s a viral disease and early recognition and management can prevent fatality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We see various variations from mild dengue fever to dengue hemorrhagic fever where bleeding can occur leading to sudden drop in BP (shock) and death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, it can never be taken lightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>SYMPTOMS<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>High fever<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Headache<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Body aches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nausea &amp; vomiting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rash<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pain that occurs behind the eyes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>SEVERE DENGUE SYMPTOMS<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Abdominal pain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeated vomiting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bleeding gums or nose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blood in vomit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blood in stool<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feeling very thirsty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feeling very weak<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>In case of these symptoms immediately consult hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"879\" src=\"https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-2-1024x879.png\" alt=\"dengue mosquito\" class=\"wp-image-227\" srcset=\"https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-2-1024x879.png 1024w, https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-2-300x257.png 300w, https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-2-768x659.png 768w, https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-2-600x515.png 600w, https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-2.png 1070w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>HOW DENGUE IS TRANSMITTED?<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Artificially stored water, when not changed regularly can become the hub of mosquitoes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dengue virus is transmitted by <strong><em>Aedes aegypti <\/em><\/strong>female mosquitoes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When mosquito feeds blood of a person, virus goes and multiply in midgut of mosquito.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later on, virus spread to other tissues including salivary glands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, when it feeds on a healthy person next time, he gets infected with virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While this mosquito once infected spreads dengue for rest of its life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>These mosquitoes bite during the day when you are in school\/ college in your office or at home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Severe dengue usually occurs <strong>in persons who already had previous infection.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>LABORATORY DIAGNOSIS<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Thrombocytopenia (platelet count &lt; 150,000 cells\/mm3)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rising haematocrit (5-10%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Viral antigen detection<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NS1 (non-structural protein 1)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Rapid diagnostic test (RDT)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Viral nucleic acid detection \u2013 (RT-PCR)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>TREATMENT<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No specific treatment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paracetamol is given for fever and relieving pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take rest as dengue is also called break- bone fever, and indeed even without fever you will feel tired for days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Drink lots of water\/ coconut water \/ juice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) should be taken like Ibuprofen and aspirin without doctor\u2019s guidance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>PREVENTION OF DENGUE<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This disease if captures us, can make us spend thousands of rupees but we can prevent it to a great extent just by taking some precautions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wear protective clothing because preventing the mosquito bite is the first and main step.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can wear full sleeves shirt instead of half sleeves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can wear shoes with socks instead of sandals or sleepers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wear pants\/jeans\/ trousers instead of capri\/ half-pants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use coils or vaporizers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use mosquito nets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prevent entry of mosquitoes in house by using gates and windows with nets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Regular cleaning\/ dusting along with preventing storage of water in and around your house or in your neighbourhood.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On weekends, all the neighbours\/ members of society can clean their surrounding areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>They can organize awareness campaign against dengue regarding its prevention and control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Same can be done at schools to make children aware and also at your workplaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you or your family member is suffering from fever, then don\u2019t wait for more than 1 day taking it as a normal flu fever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case if dengue case is increasing in your area, go for blood test as and when suggested by doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the entire period be in touch with doctor, as during this time platelet levels are checked regularly and multiple blood test might be required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If any severe dengue symptoms are seen, then consult immediately to nearby doctor\/ hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-pink-background-color has-background\">SHARE YOUR REVIEWS AND STORIES OR ASK QUESTONS IN THE COMMENT SECTION, OR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-pink-background-color has-background\">CONTACT OUR TEAM OF HALLEYS CLINIC halleysclinic@gmail.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>also read <a href=\"https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/index.php\/2023\/06\/05\/what-are-tick-borne-diseases\/\" title=\"WHAT ARE TICK BORNE DISEASES?\">WHAT ARE TICK BORNE DISEASES?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>also read <a href=\"https:\/\/halleysclinic.com\/index.php\/2023\/05\/26\/how-to-take-care-of-hair\/\" title=\"HOW TO TAKE CARE OF HAIR?\">HOW TO TAKE CARE OF HAIR?<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dengue is caused by virus called DENV (dengue virus).
