Bond of life Chapter -2 : to seek memories of past, a time travel back to where it all began
By Halleys clinic Travelling for uncountable miles for those memories of past, wishing to hear that voice, seeking that warm glance of her eyes; he waited years.
When finally, he found her in front of him; the time brought him back to where he left, as if nothing had changed; as if it was just yesterday; as if all those years without her was just a nightmare; as if it was a dream that he was living, the one he would never want to wake up from.
She looked outside the hospital window; a hailstorm had hit the city. She seemed worried to go back to home as she shuffled across the chair beside the bed.
“Storm won’t last long, don’t worry.”
“You woke up! I am glad, you fainted on the street and there were…” She continued talking about the incident, but this guy with hearing power that could defeat all, went deaf at the moment. All he could see was those brown eyes filled with colours of autumn. All he did was smiling and nodding like a mad man.
He didn’t even realize that she was preparing to leave, he would have known, if he had listened any words. Doctor wondered whether he administered high dose of the drug or whether he had to re-examine his head because there were torn up tissues and a several fractures on his body; but that guy was sitting there smiling brightly.
“Wait, where are you going?” He held her hand in hurry.
She got afraid and shook his hand, going a few steps back; she spoke, “Sorry… I have to leave; it’s late you see.”
“Ah! I see… Sorry to scare you. I will drop you home.”
“Why will you? I mean you are injured Mr.??…”
He was sad and taken aback as he realized, only he remembered everything but she had forgotten it all.
“Mr. Hooda…” he murmured.
She had forgotten not only him but also the memories with him, everything had disappeared for her, as if they never existed.
“I will come back tomorrow to see you. You should rest till then.” Saying that she left through the narrow door, with a guy in black suit guiding her the way. As soon she left, the darkness galloped his surroundings, only then he realized that they were sitting with the lamps and lanterns because the light was cut due to storm.
It was an old building of community hall that was later on converted into hospital, for the people of the town. The one with serious and complicated cases used to go to bigger hospitals outside the town and hence there were only a few patients who were admitted there.
The night was dark and there was no sign of light coming back for the rest of the night. Hospital staff slowly started leaving and the one with night shift went to rest after completing their rounds. With every passing hour, it became quieter than before.
He lied down on the bed, looking at the ceiling that glimmered with the lamp’s light, sinking in the sea of thoughts.
He wondered why he felt so sad when he already knew she could not have remembered him. Why his heart ached when her eyes were not seeing him but a stranger. He wondered, whether it would be right to cross path with her again or to just let go, even if it means to spend the rest of his life, in the darkness that galloped the town that night.
To be continued…
